This city, which hosts countless visitors every year, has always been a center of attraction with its alternative holiday opportunities and variety of services.

HISTORY of MARMARİS

The history of Marmaris goes back to 3400 BC. The first settlement begins with the arrival of a tribe whose leader is Kar. The name KARIA was given to the region later, meaning the country of Snow. The fertility of the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts has always made the region attractive. The city is the most important bridge opening to Rhodes and Aegean islands. Thus, Marmaris has become a place where many civilizations ruled over time.

It is possible to see the traces of Caria, Rhodes and island civilizations, Egypt, Assyria, Ionian, Persian, Macedonian, Syrian, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman civilizations during the trips to be made in the region.

It is the first name of the city of Pyskos. Today, its remains can be seen in the location called Asartepe.
